The Carnivore (Langata Road)

Popular with tourist and locals alike, Carnivore practices an all-you-can-eat concept with variety of meats, sauces, soups and desserts. Located on the outskirts of town, the place is devoted to barbecued meat (nyama choma), and serves such variations of it as ostrich and crocodile. The Carnivore is also home of the Simba Saloon, a la carte restaurant by day with an informal indoor and outdoor atmosphere; turning into a nightclub in the evenings. Carnivore's gardens often host concerts by local and international acts.

Habesha (Hurlingham)

An Ethiopian restaurant, Habesha is known for its authentic cuisine. Each dish comes with a large plate of injera (spongy Ethiopian flat bread). Ethiopian food is eaten by hand, hence utensils are not provided, but can be requested. Among vegetarian options is shiro, the popular dish of ground chickpeas, similar to hummus mix. Ethiopian honey wine is brewed on sight, and Ethiopian coffee (espresso) is served.

Le Rustique (Westlands)

This Mediterranean cuisine restaurant has a different menu every week, consisting of home-made meals, soufflés, soups, crêpes, pastries and ice creams. The restaurant is set in a garden, with tables arranged under large umbrellas; and inside seating is available. Le Restique displays paintings by Kenyan artists, exhibits changing every 4-6 weeks. In the garden, three shops sell imported clothing, Kenyan designer wear and Kitengela glass. The restaurant seats 95, and opens at 9:30 each morning.

Lord Errol (Runda Estate)

The Lord Erroll is a gourmet restaurant with French cuisine and Swiss influence, and an extensive wine list. The house specialties include Smoked Salmon and Escargot Bourguignon, as well as Rosti and Cheese Fondue. Lord Errol is made up of several dining rooms, such as The Conservatory, The Claremont, The Verandah, and the Highlander Bar. The Verandah faces the restaurant’s landscaped gardens with waterfalls and other water features.

Pampa (Mombasa Road)

Located in Panari Sky Centre, Pampa Churrascaria boasts the South Brazilian method of grilling meat. The buffet includes a variety of fresh salads, hot and cold vegetables, cold cuts, typical in Brazil feijoada and rice, having a range of vegetarian and meat lover options. Selection of wines from around the world is available, including Brazilian wines. The restaurant has another branch on the coast, in Mombasa.

River Café (Gigiri)

Located near the Village Market and overlooking the river, The River Cafe is a café-restaurant dedicated to all-day brunch. The café roasts fresh coffee and serves items from the international fusion menu. It sits inside a garden centre with a specialist gardening store and a Gourmet shop selling international wines and foods. Art by local artists is displayed on the shelves, and jazz or classical African music usually plays. Customers are able to use wireless Internet connectivity.

Coffee shop chains

Dormans, Java and Savannah coffee shops are situated around town and beside coffee also carry food, such as sandwiches, soups, burgers, salads and large selections of desserts. Many locations have free wireless.
